a little break for some QT

This week, I realized that more of my free time is spent with my face buried in a laptop than actually looking at my husband. This is not ok. I’m going to be taking a little break this week to get in some quality time with the hubby. Good thing I’ve been lacking inspiration lately. Hopefully I’ll come back next week refreshed and ready to light this place on fire!

Pinterest might be my favorite website ever. Lately, it’s gotten a little bogged down with, let’s just say, non-designerly pins :P Not that I’m a snob or I think that they should still be an invite-only site — although, those were the days weren’t they? — but let’s be real, it’s the truth. Either way, Pinterest is still so useful and I love it. Here’s a snapshot of my boards this week.

 

Hard vs. Soft


I love the classic juxtaposition of hard and soft, feminine and masculine, like these images and illustrations. Feminine women with chiffon and tulle, laced with tattoos and studs. You’ve gotta love a tough girl!

I’m celebrating my hubby’s birthday today. He’s a little younger than me, much taller, more spontaneous and so much smarter. He balances me better than anyone. He is the cup to my cake :)

Wedding Part Two // Ceremony


My wedding day was the best day ever. Every bride must say that, but our wedding day really was amazing. It was entirely us, from the tiny ceremony, to the huge pink balloons, and the 90s pop music that blared out of the speakers. The day could not have been better. It might not have been everyone’s idea of a perfect wedding, but it definitely was ours.

It’s bedtime in my brain. Unfortunately I won’t actually be able to wind down until tomorrow night. It’s just been one of those weeks where you can’t seem to get ahead of anything or even catch up. So, this bed is looking pretty good right about now…oh well, there will be time to sleep tomorrow!

It’s hardly felt like summer so far, excluding the 100+ degree temperatures and the multiple beach days…ok, I guess it’s felt like summer, but I haven’t been able to enjoy it the same as previous summers. Wedding planning (yes, woe is me in my life of planning this wedding!) is so time-consuming, it’s insanity!

Sorry for my absence, folks, but I am trying to remedy the situation! Sit tight. I’ll be back :)

chicago // commuting is a bitch

Normally it takes me a little over 45 minutes to get from my office to my apartment after work. Today, somebody started a fire, which caused the trains to be delayed and then stop running altogether. I decided to take a bus…2.5 hours later I’m home.

Well, at least these cinemagraphs are pretty :)
