just be happy
Guys—
it’s been almost two months since I’ve seen you, and I don’t even have a good reason. Well, that’s not entirely true …
Around the time that I fell off the face of the earth, I saw a post on one of my favorite daily reads that bad-mouthed blogs like mine a little bit. It basically said that blogs that don’t create unique content (blogs like this one that pull inspiration from all corners of the internet instead of scheduling photoshoots) aren’t valuable. It really shook my confidence and made me question whether I should continue to post/pin/care about the blogosphere.
So I took a break. A break that I thought could be permanent. A break from posting, reading, commenting—all things blog—and I missed it. I felt less inspired and more negative than ever. Then I realized …
I post what inspires me in the moment and what I love, and I work without an editorial calendar, which is not a bad thing. I’m not looking to monetize or gather sponsors, I just want an outlet where I can share my inspiration and put my own flavor on each post. This is how I express myself and it’s a community where I feel at home. So, why would I ever leave?
Long story, short—I’m back. And nothing is going to change. Same fun posts, same hot pink accents, with a brand new attitude.
this week in pins
Pinterest might be my favorite website ever. Lately, it’s gotten a little bogged down with, let’s just say, non-designerly pins :P Not that I’m a snob or I think that they should still be an invite-only site — although, those were the days weren’t they? — but let’s be real, it’s the truth. Either way, Pinterest is still so useful and I love it. Here’s a snapshot of my boards this week.
Alt SF 2013
Have you heard about Alt Conference coming to San Francisco in July? This could not be more perfect timing! I’ve been wanting to make the trip to Alt for the past few years, but haven’t been able to make it work. Since we’ll be moving to SF in June, I’ll have no excuse not to go. I can’t wait to register :)
happy holidays — see you next year!
This year has been amazing, personally and professionally, and I really couldn’t have asked for more. My one regret is not spending more of my time and energy on Design Me Daily, but don’t worry, I have big plans for her 2013. This week I’m hopping between Chicago, the suburbs of Chicago, back to Chicago, Traverse City, Michigan, Chicago again, and then finally Cancun to start 2013 off right! Until then, friends, happy holidays!
Thanks.
There are so many things that I’m thankful for this year — my family, friends, brand new husband and of course my kittens : ). My health. My career. My consistent sources of inspiration. My growing closet.
But here, in the blog world, I’m mainly grateful for one thing. You.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your support and coming back to read me daily, weekly, or whenever you’re bored. Honestly I couldn’t thank you guys enough for helping me constantly feel welcome in this amazing, creative community.
Happy Thanksgiving
the new design me daily
Hello and welcome to the new Design Me Daily! I’m so excited to start fresh with a new look, a new name and a new outlook on this blog and what it means to me. When I originally started blogging, it was just a way for me to collect my inspiration and catalog the things I love in life. Since then, it has become a part of me. It’s still a platform to share what I love and what inspires me, but it has also provided me with motivation, support, friends and an incredible sense of self. So thank you for being a part of it — my beginning and now my future.

That is hard, there are so many places that inspire me daily, but it would have to come down to Pinterest, Design Work Life, and my Google Reader. I have over 1000 blogs I try to keep up with weekly.
